Portishead

Portishead Official Vinyl & Music Collection

Immerse yourself in the dark, smoky, and cinematic underworld of the pioneers of trip-hop with the official Portishead collection at Universal Music Store South Africa. Hailing from Bristol, Portishead—comprising Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons, and Adrian Utley—completely rewrote the rules of modern alternative music in the 1990s. Fusing dusty hip-hop breakbeats, eerie spy-movie jazz samples, distressed vinyl textures, and Beth Gibbons’ devastatingly fragile, ghostly vocals, they created an untouchable mood that continues to influence generations of artists. Whether you are a dedicated audiophile building a high-end vinyl library or chasing the ultimate late-night listening experience, our curated selection of their iconic Go! Beat catalog is an absolute essential.

Crafted with meticulous analog warmth and a distinct noir aesthetic, Portishead's music bridges the gap between raw electronic experimentation and heart-wrenching emotional depth. Experience their timeless albums on the highest quality physical formats, masterfully pressed to capture every whisper, vinyl crackle, and haunting string arrangement.

Featured Portishead Vinyl & Essential Albums

Build your definitive alternative and electronic catalog with authentic, premium pressings imported directly for South African collectors. Highlights of the collection include:

  • Dummy: The legendary, Mercury Music Prize-winning 1994 debut masterpiece. An untouchable classic that birthed the trip-hop movement, featuring immortal nocturnal anthems like "Glory Box", "Sour Times", and "Roads". An absolute holy grail for any serious vinyl collector, pressed on heavyweight wax.

  • Portishead: The brilliant, darker, and more abrasive 1997 self-titled sophomore triumph. Leaning further into distorted analog synths, theremins, and avant-garde soundscapes, this cinematic record features breathtaking cuts like "All Mine", "Over", and "Humming".

  • Third: The long-awaited, critically acclaimed 2008 masterpiece. A radical sonic evolution that stripped away traditional trip-hop beats in favor of hypnotic Krautrock rhythms, modular synthesizers, and harrowing acoustic confessionals like "Machine Gun" and "The Rip".

  • Roseland NYC Live: Experience the breathtaking grandeur of their legendary 1998 live concert film recording, featuring an orchestra backing up their sultry, melancholic soundscapes with soaring emotional weight.
